Thursday, November 5
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m Central Standard Time
Online Workshop (Includes Pre-Work & Other Useful Resources)
Handshake agreements and written leases are so commonplace that landowners and farmers may not think twice about the legal arrangement itself… until things go wrong. You can prevent problems (and big expenses!) with a strong lease that addresses equipment access, infrastructure, payment terms, dispute resolution procedures, sustainable practices, and more. This online workshop for farmers and landowners will help you understand in an in-depth way what a lease should include and how to negotiate good terms without souring the relationship. You will come away with a wide variety of resources and knowledge, including Illinois state laws you need to know and when to go right to an attorney.
Rachel Armstrong, an attorney and the Director of Farm Commons, will lead this program. She will also discuss ways to integrate sustainability provision into leases as well as specific sample provisions.
There will be written pre-work and an advance video as well as the actual virtual workshop that includes instruction, interactive exercises, discussions, and guidance on the issues that matter to you. So register by November 2nd to get full value!
Invest in your peace of mind and a good, secure lease relationship by attending this workshop.
If you are unable to attend the live event, registrants will be able to access the recorded webinar once available.
